Residents can lend a hand to Dania Beach’s community garden Saturday by volunteering to plant seedlings on a vacant lot near the corner of Northwest First Street and 12th Avenue.
In hopes that similar gardens will spring up after, the garden was started by the city’s community redevelopment agency.
Residents can also reserve small plots on the gardening site. The event is free to the public and will last from 8 a.m. until 1 p.m.
Heavy storms are expected to roll into South Florida again on Tuesday, bringing waves of rain, possible hail, strong winds, lightning and flooded streets. A flood watch is in effect through the day and night.
