FOOTBALL

•  Coral Shores 48, Miami Day Country 7: Coral Shores beat Miami Day Country with the help of a stout defense and a steady rushing attack. The Hurricanes defense limited the Spartans to only a touchdown while accounting for seven sacks and two interceptions. The offense was carried by running back Cody Roberts, who had 166 yards rushing and two scores.

RUSSELL QUINOA

•  Hillel 32, Northwest Christian 22: Hillel (2-2, 2-0) rallied from a six-point deficit in the second half and defeated Northwest Christian at FIU North in front of 200 fans giving tribute to their senior class.

The seniors were the ones being honored, but it was the juniors who would take the spotlight. Junior receiver Nathaniel Rub caught four passes for 40 yards and a touchdown. Most of his damage, however, came on the ground; he rushed for 108 yards, including a 56-yard score. Quarterback Alex Froimzon threw for 111 yards and a touchdown; he also ran for another. The big play of the game cam on special teams when Daniel Doron forced a fumble, recovered it and scored the go-ahead touchdown for in the third quarter.

Northwest Christian (3-2) was led by Dwayne Jones, who threw for 93 yards.
