The University of Miami confirmed Thursday in its official Atlantic Coast Conference injury report that defensive tackle Olsen Pierre, who has started every game this season, will miss Saturday’s Notre Dame game with a lower-extremity injury.

Pierre has 13 tackles, 2 1/2 tackles-for-loss and a forced fumble this season.

Freshman safety Rayshawn Jenkins, who has played in all four games and has four tackles, is also out with an upper-extremity injury.

Also out is right offensive tackle Ben Jones, who earned his first start against North Carolina State and has a foot injury.

Defensive tackle Curtis Porter, who underwent surgery for an appendectomy weeks ago, has not played in any games and is not yet back. He is still considered on the team.

The players who already have undergone surgery and are out for the remainder of the season are wide receiver Malcolm Lewis, linebacker Ramon Buchanan and snapper Sean McNally.

This and that

• In each of Miami’s four wins, the Canes made up a deficit of at least seven points.

• UM quarterback Stephen Morris had seven completions of at least 40 yards against North Carolina State. He had five for the season entering the game.

• Notre Dame holds a 16-7-1 all-time series lead over Miami — with the Irish winning eight of the nine meetings in South Bend, Ind., and the teams splitting 13 games (6-6-1) in Miami. Notre Dame has won the two meetings on a neutral field, including the 2010 Sun Bowl in El Paso, Texas.
