While it is possible to understand support for America’s policy to isolate Raúl Castro because of his aberrant behavior, the extension of this strategy of isolation to the other 11 million Cubans on the island is incomprehensible. Perhaps engaging the rest of Cuba’s population would have better results than the continuation of a 50-year-old policy that has not achieved its stated goals. The United States has full diplomatic relations with communist China, Vietnam and with almost every single dictatorship in the world, why not Cuba?
