Florida Gators’ Jelani Jenkins expected back

Miami Herald Writer

Starting weak-side linebacker Jelani Jenkins (thumb) is cleared to play Saturday against LSU after having a pin removed from his thumb last Friday, coach Will Muschamp said Wednesday.

Jenkins, who finished third on the team with 75 tackles in 2011, injured his thumb on the first defensive series against Texas A&M on Sept. 8 and has not played since. He will wear a cast and be available in all circumstances, Muschamp said.

“I feel very comfortable he’ll be able to go,” Muschamp said. “If he can play, he can play.”

Starting defensive end Dominique Easley (knee) and defensive tackle Sharrif Floyd (shoulder) are 100 percent for this Saturday’s game.
