Body kept in public storage unit identified

Tampa Bay Times

DNA testing has confirmed the identity of a woman discovered dead in a Clearwater storage unit in January, police said.

A Texas lab determined that the body was that of Ann Bunch, 95.

At the time the body was discovered, family members told police that it was Bunch who was in the plywood coffin and kept in the U-Stor Self Storage unit.

Relatives said she was placed there by her daughter, who was unable to arrange a conventional burial at the time of her death in 1995.

The Clearwater Police Department said the positive identification of Bunch closes the case.
