Dorothy Gillespie, internationally recognized sculptor, dies in South Florida

Dorothy Gillespie's colorful sculptures have been exhibited from New York to Israel to Orlando.

Dorothy Gillespie, whose artwork has adorned public spaces from South Florida to New York City and museums from Israel to Virginia, died Sunday at her home in Coral Springs. She was 92.

The painter, sculptor, mother and grandmother grew up in Roanoke, Va. before attending the Maryland Institute of Art in Baltimore and moving to New York City in the 1940s.

Bill Greer, the former assistant managing editor for projects at the Palm Beach Post, as well as a longtime editor for The Miami Herald, died Saturday at the age of 65. Death was the result of a staph infection that followed back surgery several months ago.
