Dogs can have their own day in the park — and swim, too — thanks to K9 Water Festivals weekends in October and November.
The dog friendly weekends will take place 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.:
Oct. 6, 7, 20 and 21: Castaway Island at T.Y. Park, 3300 N. Park Rd., Hollywood; 954-357-8811.
Oct. 27 and 28; Nov. 10 and 11: Splash Adventure at Quiet Waters Park, 401 S. Powerline Rd., Deerfield Beach; 954-357-5100.
Admission is $5 per dog per 50-minute session. Dogs must be at least four months hold, be up to date on vaccinations, and sociable.
Dogs will be off leashes and free to play in the water parks. Balls and Frisbees will be provided; no outside toys or dog treats will be permitted; however doggie ice cream will be available for purchase. Lifeguards will be on duty. People will not be allowed in the pools.
Donations will be accepted for the homeless animals at Broward County animal shelters. The money is used to purchase medications, support the foster program, and purchase animal equipment and supplies. Donations of new and gently used supplies (dog beds, towels, collars, leashes, canned food, treats, etc.) are also accepted.
Admission to the parks is $1.50 per person.
