Faith by Jennifer Haigh. I’ve been meaning to get to this one since it came out a couple of years ago, and it has more than lived up to the wait. The novel is narrated by the sister of a priest accused of abusing a boy in his parish. ’Did he or didn’t he?’ is the question that keeps you turning the pages, but the novel is much deeper than that, and very humane. Haigh explores the subterranean dynamics of family and the Church and the ties that bind us to each. I’m in awe of her talents.”
