The funeral for Broward Sheriff’s Office Deputy Christopher Schaub, who died in a motorcycle accident this week, will be Tuesday in Fort Lauderdale.

Schaub, 47, will receive a full police escort and honors, BSO said Friday.

He was a 22-year veteran with the sheriff’s office. A motorman for three years, Schaub had also worked road patrol and in the detective bureau. He received employee of the month honors several times.

A viewing will be held 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at First Baptist Church of Pompano Beach, 138 NE First St., Pompano Beach.

The funeral will begin at 11a.m. Tuesday at Calvary Chapel of Fort Lauderdale, 2401 W. Cypress Creek Rd., Fort Lauderdale.

Schaub died hours after his vehicle collided with a Mercedes Benz driven by Mirtha Odell at the intersection of McNab Road and North Andrews Avenue Wednesday afternoon. The investigation into the accident is ongoing. Odell, 63, of Fort Lauderdale has not been charged.

Schaub is survived by daughter Kaitlyn Schaub and son Timothy Schaub, who is a deputy sheriff in Pompano Beach.

Information in this article has been updated since it was first posted. It includes a change where the viewing will be held for Deputy Schaub.
