As a retired autoworker and Korean War veteran, I was upset to hear that Mitt Romney thinks that people like me are dependent upon the government. Social Security and Medicare are not hand-outs. Today’s retirees paid for them in every paycheck we ever earned. Now that we are retired, these programs help us to be able to stay healthy and pay our bills. They are the promise we made to people who worked hard all their lives, and we need to keep that promise. Call me old-fashioned, but I still believe that our nation should help our young, elderly and our heroic veterans.
