A Key Largo man remains jailed in lieu of $600,000 bond, charged with sexually molesting a young girl.

The girl, now in her teens, told detectives from the Monroe County Sheriff's Office Major Crimes Unit that 50-year-old Juan Carlos Molina molested her repeatedly between June 2005 and January 2007 when she was between ages 8 and 10.

Agency spokeswoman Becky Herrin said the molestation stopped when she and her family moved away from Key Largo.

Herrin said the girl said Molina contacted her recently and she and her family met with him briefly in Homestead. She said the visit made her uncomfortable and, afterward, decided to tell her mother what happened, Herrin said. That's when police were called.

After investigating, detectives obtained a warrant for Molina's arrest. He was picked up by officers with the Miccosukee Police Department, then brought back to Monroe County to face charges.

Molina is charged with three counts each of sexual battery on a child and lewd and lascivious molestation of a child, and one count lewd and lascivious exhibition.
