Louisiana-Lafayette, 2-1 and 1-0 in the Sun Belt after beating Troy 37-24, gets to face FIU coming off of a bye. Louisiana coach Mark Hudspeth said Blaine Gautier would start at quarterback and would play the entire game, barring injury.

As for running backs Alonzo Harris and Efrem Reed, Hudspeth said, “We’re probably going with who has the hot hand. Both will play. Neither one has separated from the other.”

Harris ran for 54 yards on 10 carries against FIU last season. Gauthier ran for 86 yards on 15 carries, wasn’t sacked and completed 14 of 26 passes for 221 yards and three touchdowns in Louisiana’s 36-31 win.

A lack of sacks

In the past six games, going back to last season, FIU has only five sacks and doesn’t have a multi-sack game.

But the Panthers’ three sacks this season are not the fewest among Sun Belt teams. Troy and Louisiana-Monroe have two. Monroe, however, has played only three games so far.
