After defeating then-No. 10 Clemson 49-37 in a game that went late into Saturday night, coach Jimbo Fisher gave his team the day off Monday. Although he said there would be meetings and film study, he would give the team the day off from physical activities.

“We won’t go out [Monday], we’ll have meetings and walkthroughs inside,” Fisher said. “More [because of] the timing of the game ... Those kids didn’t get out of there until 1, 2, 3 in the morning. It hasn’t even been close to 48 hours [after that].”

Fourth-ranked Florida State is 4-0 heading into Saturday’s game at South Florida.

Players Honored

• For their performances Saturday, three Seminoles were honored. Senior quarterback EJ Manuel is the Davey O’Brien Player of the Week and ACC Offensive Back of the Week, junior Menelik Watson earned ACC Offensive Lineman of the Week and junior Lamarcus Joyner earned ACC Specialist of the Week.

• Fisher said it would be “wonderful” if Manuel won the Heisman Trophy.
