Indulgences: Elsa Peretti

A

This month's most amazingly, decadent item. Warning: you may feel guilt just looking at it!

Style is to be simple.” It is one of Elsa Peretti’s most famous sayings, not to mention the guiding philosophy behind her designs, which have been sold exclusively at Tiffany & Co. for more than four decades. Her sterling silver creations—in the shape of apples, beans, bones, hearts, shells, snakes and teardrops—are famously fluid in form and inspired by nature.

Born in Italy and educated in Rome and Switzerland, Peretti worked in her early days as a French teacher, a ski instructor and a model. But it was when she became a designer that she would leave her inimitable seamless mark on the world.

Her designs—like this carafe ($2,800), plate ($2,050) and cup ($750)—have remained top sellers for Tiffany & Co., which this year celebrates its own175th anniversary. 342 San Lorenzo Avenue, Coral Gables; 305-529-4390; tiffany.com.
