Unsure about rhodes
Junior running back Kedrick Rhodes missed a second day of practice in a row with a right ankle injury. Coach Mario Cristobal said after a week of treatments, Rhodes, FIU’s leading rusher last year, would be a game-time decision Saturday.
• FIU’s long snapping has been an adventure lately. In two of three games, long-snapping snafus have cost FIU points (two field goals) and/or led to FIU opponent’s points (a blocked field goal returned for a touchdown and a safety). Against Akron, a fumbled shotgun snap by Jake Medlock almost cost FIU a chance at the field goal that sent the game into overtime. Senior Shae Smith likely will continue to be the every-down center. Whether Smith or Mitch MacCluggage handles the long snapping duties is up in the air.
