The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge — William and Kate to you — have filed a lawsuit against French magazine Closer, which published topless photos of Kate on Thursday, TMZ.com reports.

A rep for St James’s Palace released a statement saying that “legal proceedings for breach of privacy have been commenced today in France” by the royal couple, TMZ reports. The photos were taken during William and Kate’s private holiday in France. News of the photos broke as William and Kate — dressed in headscarf –— visited Malaysia’s largest mosque, in central Kuala Lumpur. It is unclear exactly what the lawsuit is seeking.

People.com reported Closer editor Laurence Pieau defended the decision to publish the photos.

“These photos are not in the least shocking,” he told the Agence France-Presse on Friday. “They show a young woman sunbathing topless, like the millions of women you see on beaches.”
