FIU’s Mario Cristobal addresses parity in college football

dneal@miamiherald.com

Coach Mario Cristobal said upsets such as the Big Sky’s Sacramento State over Big 12’s Colorado and the Sun Belt’s Louisiana-Monroe over then-No. 8 Arkansas last week show the need for a true college football playoff, not just a final four teams. Cristobal, in answering a question about whether the Panthers took Duke and Akron lightly, used those games to show what he sees as the relative parity in college football.

• Central Florida opened a 13-point favorite over FIU. The line has risen to 17 points at most sports books, the largest spread against FIU over the last two seasons.
