Man who took bullet to the back drives himself to the hospital

A man who was shot in the back was able to drive himself to a hospital, according to the Manatee County Sheriff's Office.

The driver, who was shot once, and another man told deputies they were sitting in the car in the parking lot of amn apartment building in Palmetto in Southwest Florida. when someone approached and began shooting at them. The shots struck the vehicle several times and injured the driver, according to the sheriff’s office.

The injured man was able to drive to Manatee Memorial Hospital, where he was listed as being in stable condition.

The sheriff's office said investigators were following several leads in the case.
