The Dolphins made a flurry of minor roster moves Tuesday, cutting linebacker Sammy Brown and terminating the practice squad contract of Chris “7-Eleven” Hogan. They also announced the previously reported additions of Chas Alecxih and Brian Tyms to their practice squad.

Brown’s time in Miami was short-lived. He joined the team via the waiver wire the week before the season began, but did not play in the opener.

With Brown gone, that leaves an empty spot on Dolphins’ 53-man roster, and just 22 players on Miami’s defense.

•  President Obama loves his Chicago Bears. As for the Dolphins? He had a little fun at their expense on local radio Tuesday.

When DJ Laz of 106.7 FM mentioned to Obama that he was wearing a Dolphins jersey, the President took the bait.

“You’ve got to start with that Dolphins thing,” Obama said. “Did you see that HBO special Hard Knocks? That’s a pretty good show. As I recall, you guys didn’t win any… in the preseason.”

• Longtime Dolphins defensive line coach Mo Scarry died Sunday at his Fort Myers home. He was 92.

Scarry worked under Don Shula, who released a statement Tuesday saying he is “deeply saddened” by Scarry’s death.

“He was a great coach and friend who was like a father figure to me,” Shula added.

•  Paul Soliai took students from Brownsville and Bair middle schools on a shopping spree Tuesday at the Broward Mall’s Sears, giving each a $300 gift card for back-to-school supplies, courtesy of his foundation and the department store.
