Re the Sept. 5 article Death warrant for man convicted of 8 murders: A bad man and the killer of eight will be executed next month. Among those he murdered in January 1978 are two fellow alums from Hialeah High, Belinda Worley and Brian Glendfeldt. Their violent deaths and the violation of one remain a deep sorrow in our hearts as neighbors, classmates, friends and family.
Knowing that this murderer will be executed doesn’t bring me any sense of justice.
The death penalty is deficient that way. It only adds to the killings, it doesn’t restore, it doesn’t afford the victims and their loved ones any greater solace than what they have already received from their God and from the love of their friends.
Let it be done according to the law of the state, but let us not think that it is justice.
