Floatopia Miami seemed to bring out the kid in lots of participants on Saturday.

By midday, several dozen people waded out to the jewel-toned water off of South Pointe Park Beach in Miami Beach for a day of fun aboard floats, rafts and inner-tubes.

The gathering was promoted on Facebook as “a social event” that has taken place in Santa Barbara, California since 2004 and sprung up in various other states. Participants were invited to bring a float, raft, inner-tube, rubber tire or anything that floats for a day of frolicking on the waves.
