Thousands of people are expected to gather at the AmericanAirlines Arena on Saturday for a Mass to honor Cubas patron saint.
A statue of La Caridad del Cobre, or Our Lady of Charity, will be brought to the arena aboard a boat from the Shrine of Our Lady of Charity in Coconut Grove for the special Mass on her annual day of observance, Sept. 8.
Doors open at 4 p.m. At. 6 p.m., Archbishop Thomas Wenski will lead the Mass at the arena.
The event is free and open to the public.
Heres the schedule of events Saturday at the arena at 601 Biscayne Blvd.:
4 p.m. - Doors of the arena open to the public
Statue of Our Lady of Charity departs by sea from the Shrine of our Lady of Charity in Coconut Grove.
4:30 p.m. - Holy Rosary at the AAA
5 p.m. - Arrival of the statue at the arena
6 p.m. - Holy Mass, presided by Archbishop Thomas Wenski begins
8:15 p.m. - Concert of local musicians begins
