Pine Crest volleyball stays unbeaten

TEAM OF THE WEEK

University of Houston recruit John O’Korn threw for 164 yards and a touchdown and added 112 rushing yards and three rushing touchdowns as the St. Thomas Aquinas football team, ranked No. 14 by Prep Nation, scored 21 unanswered points and rallied for a 38-28 victory over Miami Columbus in a nationally televised game.

ATHLETES OF THE WEEK

Celeste Grimmett, Hollywood Christian, girls’ volleyball: Grimmett had 11 points and four kills in a four-set loss to Somerset.

Doug Schoeller, Chaminade, boys’ golf: Schoeller won medalist (35) as the Lions (178) finished second to Cypress Bay (151) in a tri-match.

Terrell Bonds, McArthur, football: Bonds threw three touchdowns in a 27-14 victory over West Broward.

Nicole Rosenberg, Pine Crest, girls’ volleyball: Rosenberg had 34 assists, seven aces and four digs in a victory over Sagemont.

Aryn Lee, Northeast, girls’ volleyball: Lee had 15 points and three aces in a victory over Plantation.

Gregory Hankerson, Boyd Anderson, football: Hankerson went 16 for 29 with 267 yards and two touchdowns and added a rushing touchdown in a 28-7 win over Dillard.

Emily Taylor and Lindsay Foreman, Calvary Christian, girls’ volleyball: Taylor had 25 assists, five aces and five kills and Foreman added 10 aces, 11 kills and six digs in a four-set victory over Highlands Christian.

Caleb Goldson, Everglades, football: Goldson went 12 for 22 with 147 yards and three touchdowns in a 20-5 victory over Cooper City.

Taylor Moody and Heather Netti. St. Thomas Aquinas, girls’ golf: Moody and Netti each shot 80 to place fourth and fifth, respectively, as the Raiders won the Lady Maverick Invitational.

Rashard Robinson, Blanche Ely, football: Robinson returned a punt 59 yards for a touchdown and caught a 34-yard touchdown pass to help the Tigers rally for a 37-14 victory over Stranahan.

Melissa Vandera and Brooke Wilder, Archbishop McCarthy, girls’ volleyball: Vandera had 18 points and four aces and Wilder added 30 points and four kills in a victory over Stranahan.
