Evelyn Lozada opens up for the “Nightline” cameras.
In a sneak peek, the former Basketball Wives star is weeping and upset talking about her estranged husband Chad Johnson, who was arrested Aug. 11 for head butting his new bride. No scar is evident on her forehead where she was allegedly injured.
“Can you envision the day you might talk to Chad?” interviewer Amy Robach asks.
“It would have to take some time,’’ Lozada answers amid tears.
She adds that she still loves the fallen football player very much but “being away from each other is the right thing.”
Robach wonders what she wants from him.
“I would like for him to tell me that he got help and he’s working on himself.”
Lozada appears torn, saying he is a very good father and “driven” athlete who made “bad choices that destroyed his life.”
Johnson is expected to be arraigned in September.
Lozada filed for divorce two days after his arrest.
The interview airs 11:35 p.m. on ABC.
