Their first injury report of the season is an indication that, as Al Golden has been saying, the Canes made it out of fall camp in relatively good shape.
Linebacker Raphael Kirby (“lower extremity” — leg) and defensive tackle Curtis Porter (“upper extremity” — appendectomy) are the only players listed out for the season opener Saturday at Boston College.
The two were the lone players on the report.
Plenty of PARTICIPATION
Golden said “all seven” of the receivers listed on the depth chart will play Saturday. Allen Hurns and Phillip Dorsett are battling for one of the wideout spots; while Kendal Thompkins and Rashawn Scott are battling for the other. Davon Johnson, Malcolm Lewis and Herb Waters are the other three who will see action.
The coach said he wants to play “all four tight ends, four tailbacks” and “maybe two fullbacks.” He also said the defensive line will rotate several defensive tackles and ends.
"We have to,’’ Golden said. “We’re not sitting there with fifth-year senior guys.”
