Hundreds of cats and dogs will be up for adoption while the Miami Marlins play the New York Mets on Sunday. Baseball — and animal — fans can come early to the game, choose their pet, enjoy their team’s win and pick up their new cat or dog on the way out.
Adoption fees at Adopt-O-Mania will be $27.
With the help of the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, the pets are already spayed, neutered, vaccinated and have a microchip to help identify the pet if it becomes lost.
During a 24-hour Mega Match-a-thon at Tropical Park in March, 209 cats and dogs found new homes.
The goal this time is to have at least 100 animals adopted.
“The goal is to save as many animals as possible. This gives us a whole other outlet to reach and connect with people. There are quality pets out here for people to get,” said Alex Munoz, Animal services representative. “Don’t shop, adopt.”
Billy the Marlin, along with the Miami Mermaids will also be there.
Adopt-O-Mania will take place at Marlins Ball Park from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
