The daughter of Monroe County Sheriff Bob Peryam was jailed Tuesday, charged with felony grand theft.

Allison Peryam, 26, a cashier at Home Depot on North Roosevelt Boulevard in Key West, is accused of stealing several items from the store through fraudulent returns.

Police officer Michael Malgrat's report says he was called to the store a little before noon by Loss Prevention Manager Gerardo Rodriguez, who said he was investigating employee theft through fraudulent returns and found that Peryam would print copies of customer receipts, then conduct a return transaction with the receipts and keep the money.

The transactions happened Aug. 13-15 and were for $48.36, $64.49 and $235.42.

A search of Peryam's purse after her arrest resulted in the discovery of 18 syringes and two spoons. Malgrat wrote that Peryam said "she took the items from a friend's house last night because they have a problem with drugs and she had not disposed of the items yet."

Bob Peryam was elected in 2008 and is retiring when his four-year term expires. He's been with the sheriff's office for more than three decades.
