A 37-year-old nurse technician at a Kendall hospital is accused of raping a woman while she was a patient there, according to Miami-Dade police.

Luis Alfonso Lucero, of Hialeah, is charged by police with one count of sexual battery. He was arrested Tuesday.

The sexual assault happened Aug. 2 at Kendall Regional Medical Center, 11750 SW 40 St. The victim, a 45-year-old woman, was a patient in the hospital at the time for alcohol intoxication, according to an arrest affidavit.

She was in Lucero’s care at the hospital when he raped her, police said.

In a phone conversation with the woman, Lucero admitted to having sex with her while she was hospitalized, the affidavit said. Police later questioned Lucero, the affidavit said, and he told them that he had consensual sex with her.

Kendall Regional Medical Center did not return a phone call asking for comment.

Police are asking anyone who has had contact with Lucero to call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-8477 or the Miami-Dade Police Department, Special Victims Bureau/Sexual Crimes at 305-715-3300.
