Weather alert: Rainy, windy conditions continue on Tuesday; drier conditions settle in South Florida Wednesday

As Tropical Storm Isaac moves toward the northern Gulf Coast states, its outer bands will continue to bring rain to South Florida throughout Tuesday.

A 50 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms is expected for Tuesday, according to the National Weather Service. Some storms could produce heavy rain. High temperatures should stay around 90 degrees, but the heat index could read 102 degrees. Winds will continue to blow, with gusts as high as 21 mph.

Tuesday night’s weather will be similar to the daytime conditions. The 50 percent chance of rain will continue into the evening, with most of the rain occurring before 9 p.m. Again, storms could produce heavy rain. Low temperatures will be around 80 degrees. Gusts could blow as high as 18 mph.

The chance of rain will diminish on Wednesday to 20 percent, which will continue through the rest of the week. High temperatures will be in the high-80s and low-90s during the day, and winds will calm to 9 mph to 13 mph.

Temperatures will drop to the low 80s Wednesday night and winds will continue to calm to 5 mph to 9 mph.

Rain chances will stay at 20 percent from Thursday night through Labor Day, with temperatures staying near 90 degrees during the day and 80 degrees at night.
