I’m convinced that common sense has gone the way of the dot-matrix printer in America. The Aug. 20 article Court blocks Alabama student citizenship checks, stated that the Alabama immigration law that ordered schools to check the citizenship status of new students is unconstitutional because — and this is the good part — “the provision wrongly singles out children who are in the country illegally."
In the same vein, maybe Alabama’s ban- robbery law might be considered unconstitutional because it singles out bank robbers.
I always believed that illegal meant against the law, and that searching for law breakers is the job of the state.
Silly me.
