In Isaac’s wake, over 60,000 without power in South Florida

Tropical Storm Isaac only brushed South Florida, but it left thousands without electricity in Miami-Dade, Broward and Palm Beach counties.

The work by thousands of Florida Power & Light employees to restore the power continued overnight even as Isaac slithered further into the Gulf of Mexico.

According to FPL Spokesman Peter Robbins, 23,090 locations are without power in Miami-Dade County.

Another 23,420 were in the dark in Broward. And in Palm Beach, 16,900 didn’t have electricity.
