GableStage gets hot British hit

Joseph Adler, artistic director at GableStage in Coral Gables’ Biltmore Hotel, has filled the last empty spot in his 20012-2013 season lineup with a hot British import. Mike Bartlett’s Olivier Award-winning Cock, which is running Off-Broadway at the Duke on 42nd Street through Oct. 7, is about a guy who take a break from his boyfriend, only to fall in love with a gal. Adler will offer up his own take on the sexually charged battle May 18-June 16, 2013.

He’ll close out his current season with Lynn Nottage’s Pulitzer Prize-winning Ruined Sept. 8-Oct. 7, then begin his next season with David IvesVenus in Fur Nov. 10-Dec. 9. Next comes an adaptation of Hamlet by Tarell Alvin McCraney and Bijan Shebani (Jan. 12-Feb. 10), then Amy Herzog’s 4000 Miles (March 16-April 14), Cock (May 18-June 16), David Lindsay-Abaire’s Good People (July 20-Aug. 18) and Stephen Karam’s Sons of the Prophet (Sept. 21-Oct. 20, 2013). Subscriptions to the six plays of the new season are $200 for current subscribers, $225 for new ones. For information, call 305-445-1119 or visit www.gablestage.org.
