‘Absurd Celebration: The First International Festival of Virgilio Piñera’s Theatre’ continues this weekend with ‘El juego de Electra’ (‘Electra’s Game’), director Liuba Cid’s stylized adaptation of Piñera’s ‘Electra Garrigó.’ Following the production by Madrid-based Mephisto Teatro are ‘Los siervos’ (The Serfs) by Havana’s Teatro de la Luna (Aug. 31-Sept. 2), ‘Una caja de zapatos vacía’ (An Empty Shoebox) by Miami’s Mudras Project/E.G. Productions (Sept. 7-9), and ‘Carrying Water in a Sieve’ from UM’s Department of Theatre Arts (Sept. 14-22). Performances are at the Jerry Herman Ring Theatre, 1312 Miller Dr., Coral Gables, at 8 p.m. Friday-Saturday, 5 p.m. Sunday, in Spanish with English supertitles (UM students perform in English, with Spanish supertitles).
