FIU scrimmage closed to public

There will be another night scrimmage Friday, and this one is closed to the public as was Saturday’s scrimmage. FIU held two public scrimmages last year but weren’t finishing installing a new offense with a relatively new quarterback then. Friday also is the end of two-a-day practices because classes begin Monday.

Scouts welcome

Some schools treat NFL scouts like farmers treat ragweed or crows. FIU cultivates the guys from the next level, not only allowing them into practices, but also sending them weekly updates on players. Coach Mario Cristobal called getting a steady stream of players into the NFL the next step for FIU’s program.
