Layla’s popularity reached new heights in the last several months. Among the proof is when the firecracker was voted in at number 95 in Maxim’s Hot 100. She received a spot on the magazine’s coveted list, along with WWE diva Kelly Kelly.
“I didn’t believe it,” Layla said. “I was shocked. My name wasn’t on the list, but apparently I got so many write-in votes. I just want to say thanks to all the fans who voted for me in the WWE Universe. I feel very privileged. I actually went and bought the Maxim Hot 100, and I haven’t event opened it because I still can’t believe it. I’m going to keep it, and it will be a cool thing to tell my kids later on. Or for anyone who asks for my number I can say, ‘Hey, I’m in the Maxim Hot 100.’”
The diva is back on the move full-time, currently residing with many other WWE superstars in Tampa. No matter where she is, she never forgets where she came from.
“Miami is still my home,” Layla said. “I still have family and friends there. Miami will always be my home in the states. London will always be my home in the UK. I’m just roaming around now living my life kind of like a gypsy, out a suitcase, but Miami will always be my [U.S.] home.”
Layla joins the rest of the WWE superstars and divas for the Los Angeles festivities surrounding SummerSlam, which is 8 p.m. [EST] Sunday, Aug. 19 at the Staples Center.
“I’m excited,” Layla said. “It’s probably my favorite event and the event of the summer. It’s in Los Angeles, and we are taking over the weekend with Fan Axxess, parties, Q&A, autograph signings and meet-and-greets. LA is always buzzing, but I feel like it’s more when WWE comes to town. I can’t wait to see Brock [Lesnar] and Hunter [Triple H]. That one is going to be amazing and the triple threat with CM Punk, John Cena and the Big Show. I just can’t wait to see it.”
