Seven doctors charged in South Florida pill-mill raid

 

Police raided a Pompano Beach pill mill and announced the arrest of 11 people, seven of them doctors.

Seven doctors, characterized as “hired guns” for dispensing thousands of pills without medical justification, were charged in the latest crackdown on South Florida pill mills, federal authorities said.

A pain clinic on East Sample Road near Dixie Highway in Pompano Beach was surrounded by a half dozen unmarked police vehicles Thursday afternoon as Broward sheriff’s deputies and U.S. Drug Enforcement agents wearing protective gear hauled boxes from Pompano Beach Medical Corp. into a waiting van.
