New Delano hotel planned for Moscow

Moscow will get a taste of Miami Beach with the opening of a new Delano hotel there, the owners of the South Beach property announced Thursday.

The 160-room Delano Moscow is scheduled to open in 2015 as part of the mixed-use International Business Center in Russia’s capital city. Morgans Hotel Group, which owns the Miami beach property, has a 20-year management agreement with Russian developer Capital Group.

Morgans has sought to expand its key brands, including Delano, Mondrian and Hudson, while selling the company’s real estate assets. The Delano in Miami Beach is up for sale, though Morgans wants to stay on as operator.

Other plans for new Delano properties around the world have also been announced, including a location in Marrakech that is set to open in September and a hotel in Cesme, Turkey, with a scheduled opening of 2015. Earlier this month, Morgans said the Delano Las Vegas at Mandalay Bay will open in late 2013 following renovations at the site of the current all-suite THEhotel in Las Vegas.

Morgans manages hotels in Boston, New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Mexico, London and Miami Beach, including the Delano, Shore Club and Mondrian in South Beach. The company owns or has ownership interest in some of the properties.
