Former Miami Dolphins Chad Johnson received more bad news on Wednesday.
The coconut water brand Zico dropped the wide receiver from its endorsement roster, according to ESPN.com
The player had signed with the company on July 25, two weeks after marrying Evelyn Lozada. It’s unclear how much Johnson had been paid to lend his name to the company.
"The Zico brand is about supporting naturally powered athletes," the company said in a statement quoted by ESPN.com...”However, in light of recent events involving Mr. Johnson, we have decided to terminate our relationship...”
The bad streak for Johnson began Saturday night when he and his new wife had a violent fight over a receipt she found in their car trunk for condoms. Johnson was arrested on a domestic violence charge for allegedly head-butted Lozada, who has already filed for divorce.
By Sunday night, the Dolphins had cut Johnson, formerly known as Ochocinco. Tuesday night, his humiliating termination aired on the HBO show Hard Knocks.
