One year and almost $2 million later, the new corruption fighter, the public watchdog, the first-ever inspector general, hasn’t investigated a single violation of the historic Broward County code of ethics.

Since Inspector General John Scott’s office began issuing reports last August, he has drilled down on government contracts and mismanagement, but handled no cases as the sole enforcer of a new set of ethics rules for all the city and county politicians and government employees.

Scott, who earns $165,000 a year, said there’s a simple reason: No complaints are coming in.
