Sharon Osbourne has revealed the reason why she quit the judges’ table on America’s Got Talent. It’s personal: Sharon was offended that NBC cut ties with her son Jack after he was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis. She provided The New York Post with an email from NBC that read, “We cannot move forward with Jack’s participation.”

Osbourne announced she wouldn’t be returning for Season 7 of the NBC show in June, and wanted to clarify that her departure had nothing to do with money, as had been rumored.

Jack was slated to appear on Stars Earn Stripes, a military-themed reality show featuring Dean Cain and Nick Lachey, but producer David Hurwitz said the pact was never finalized, according to RadarOnline.

NBC offered to pay Jack’s salary for the show, Sharon said, but Osbourne told the Post that Jack didn’t want the money, “he wanted his gig. It gave him something to look forward to when he was diagnosed. Think of the good that it could have done to show other people who have this [condition] that your life is not over.”

The network issued a statement: “Sharon has been a valuable part of the NBC family. We regret any misunderstanding and wish Jack well.”
