Seantrel Henderson, the 6-8, 340-pound junior right tackle, did not attend practice Saturday for the second day in a row. He was excused for the opening session Friday because he had attended the funeral of a childhood friend in Minnesota, coach Al Golden said.

But Golden didn’t say whether Henderson was excused or not Saturday.

Golden: “I have no idea what… again, when I told you guys Friday he’d be back … I have no idea what his schedule is, but I think he’s supposed to arrive back [Saturday].”

Henderson arrived late recently for the start of a summer session and was disciplined internally.

This and that

First-team outside linebacker Jimmy Gaines (foot) missed his second day of practice. … Sophomore cornerback Thomas Finnie said he’s eager to fight for the starting cornerback position with current first-teamer Ladarius Gunter and youngsters such as Tracy Howard. … Golden said running back Eduardo Clements “will get a lot of opportunities’’ in 2012. … Tight end Asante Cleveland, who had shoulder surgery in February 2011, impressed Golden during Friday’s initial practice.
