About this feature

Sports Scene is a Miami Herald feature that spotlights news and notes from all youth sports activities in your neighborhood. The aim of the section is to feature game notes and the accomplishments of individual players, along with league and park standings.

We rely on the directors and coaches of each league to send information for Sports Scene. We also accept photos, but we ask that everyone pictured be identified with a first and last name and the name of the team or park they represent. If possible, please include the name of the photographer.

Duathlon

Loren Blandon, 28, of Miami won the Mack Cycle Key Biscayne Duathlon Trilogy #2 at Crandon Park in Key Biscayne.

Blandon covered the 1-mile run, 9.8-mile bike and 3.1-mile run in 59 minutes and 53 seconds.

Triathlon

Ola Besser, 27, of Miami Beach won the Mack Cycle Key Biscayne International Triathlon Trilogy at Crandon Park in Key Biscayne.

She completed the 0.5-mile swim, 19.6-mile bike and 6.2-mile run in 2 hours 1 minute and 39 seconds. Tim Curtis, 30, of Miami was runner-up in men’s overall at 1:51:45.

• Miguel Tellez, 41, of Aventura won the Mack Cycle Key Biscayne Triathlon Trilogy #2.

Tellez finished the 0.25-mile swim, 9.8-mile bike and 3.1-mile run in 50 minutes 56 seconds. Julie Lucas, 27, of Miami was second in women’s overall in 1:02:22.

  • Be a South Florida STAR, win WWE tickets

    In an effort to recognize deserving South Florida youth who promote the values of the Be a STAR anti-bullying program, World Wrestling Entertainment in conjunction with The Miami Herald is accepting nominations for a special meet-n-greet before a WWE show at the BB&T Center in Sunrise.

The Miami Rowing Club girls’ Junior 8 won the state championship in Sarasota. They are Gaby Diaz (coxswain), Abby Sorenson (stroke), Yailene Herrera Ortiz (seventh seat), Adrienne Orriols (sixth seat), Kamila Vasquez (5 seat), Samantha Salazar (fourth seat), Pilar Bancalari (third seat), Sol Helou (second seat) and Marissa Lynn Williford (bow).
