Lauderdale Lakes widow’s hog-tying lawsuit against BSO is reinstated

A state appeals court this week revived a Lauderdale Lakes woman’s lawsuit against the Broward Sheriff’s Office in the 2001 death of her husband, a 37-year-old man who suffered a fatal seizure after he was hog-tied and strapped face-down on a stretcher.

The man, Oral Brown, had lost control of his SUV, crashed into a fence surrounding the Swap Shop and had to be removed using Jaws of Life equipment. But Broward Sheriff’s deputies and paramedics described him as dazed, incoherent and combative.
