Motorist not at fault in Rickenbacker cyclist accident

The driver involved in Tuesday’s accident on the Rickenbacker Causeway was not cited for the collision that sent a cyclist to the hospital.

The bike rider, who is in his 60s, appears to be at fault, police said Thursday.

The cyclist suffered non-critical injuries and was transported to Jackson Memorial Hospital following the crash. Police said the wounds are “not life-threatening” and he is now listed in serious condition.

The driver of the black BMW that struck the cyclist stayed on scene and cooperated with authorities.

Police have not yet released the identities of either the driver or cyclist.
