The MTV Video Music Award nominations are out, and Rihanna and Drake are leading the way with five each. Last year’s big winner, Katy Perry, isn’t far behind, with four. Ri-Ri has two chances to win for video of the year. She’s nominated both for her hit We Found Love and for her duet with Drake on Take Care. Others in the category include Perry for Wide Awake; Gotye for Somebody That I Used To Know; and M.I.A. for Bad Girls. The show, which at one time was held in Miami, will air live from LA Sept. 6.

Love songs

Taylor Swift is getting into American royalty. The country singer was previously linked to model Patrick Schwarzenegger after she was photographed hanging with the model at the Cape Cod compound July 4. But it’s Patrick’s cousin she likes: Conor Kennedy, whose troubled mother Mary Kennedy hung herself in May. His dad is Robert Kennedy Jr. Taylor and her new guy were spotted last weekend in Hyannisport, Mass., kissing behind a boat shed and holding hands.

Resting up

Good Morning America anchor Robin Roberts is taking a little time off, saying she’s feeling the effects of MDS, her blood and bone marrow disease. ABC said Roberts would be taking a few weeks of previously scheduled time off, but it came earlier than her planned medical leave for a bone marrow transplant. Roberts had said her medical leave would probably start at the end of this month.

Also feeling the strain: Rob Pattinson. The Twilight star had gone AWOL since learning his girlfriend Kristen Stewart cheated on him with director Rupert Sanders. Rumors swirled that Pattinson had retreated to his native London, but UsWeekly reports the actor is actually holed up at his pregnant Water for Elephants costar Reese Witherspoon’s $7 million ranch in Ojai, Calif. It’ll be interesting to see how K&R interact on November’s press tour for The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 2.

Legal woes

A judge has granted Sheryl Crow a temporary restraining order against a “fan” named Phillip Gordon Sparks because he has claimed in profane online tirades that she has stolen money from him and broken into his house. She also states Sparks went to the offices of an entertainment union and told a worker he was going to “shoot” her.

Michael Jackson’s youngest brother is still raising questions about the validity of the pop star’s will. On Twitter and TV, Randy Jackson has called the document signed in 2002 a fake. He and three of his siblings also called on estate executors to resign.
