Just days before players report for the start of summer practice in Tallahassee, Florida State announced Wednesday morning that senior corner Greg Reid had been dismissed from the team for “violation of team rules.”
Reid, a senior, would have been in his third year as a starter for the Seminoles and was considered by many publications to be a preseason all-American.
More noted for his prowess as a kick returner than a cover corner, Reid would have entered 2012 on pace to pass Deion Sanders’ school record for punt return yardage. The former Lowndes County, Ga., standout returned three punts for touchdowns over his career while also intercepting seven passes.
As talented as he was on the field, trouble seemed to find Reid off of it though.
Last month, Reid was arrested in Georgia on a marijuana-related charge and for driving on a suspended license, his second arrest in less than a year.
