The Miami Herald

Campbell a fighter

In its July 25 recommendation, The Miami Herald failed to give a full picture of the work that state Rep. Daphne Campbell did in Tallahassee in 2011 and 2012. The bills that come before the Legislature are complex. They’re not as cut and dried, where one sentence can describe them.

In 2012, Campbell was successful in passing two bills that helped all Floridians (HB1195 and HB177). She also built relationships across the aisle and co-sponsored more than 50 bills. These bills helped young and old; Campbell was not a disappointment.

The state’s website shows all the bills that legislators present. Many of Campbell’s bills were passed through the House and Senate only to be vetoed by the governor.

I look forward to Campbell returning to Tallahassee. She’s a true fighter for the rights of everybody.
