Miami Heat to start season with 14 of 22 games at home

The NBA schedule released Thursday night has the Heat playing four of its first five, and 14 of its first 22 games, at home, beginning with the Oct. 30 regular-season opener against Boston. The other home opponents during the first nine days of the season are Denver, Phoenix and Brooklyn, with the Heat’s road opener scheduled for Nov. 2 at New York.

But Miami has a six-game road trip in November and will play 10 of 12 on the road from Jan. 8 to Feb. 3.

The Heat plays every Western Conference team twice and every Eastern Conference team four times except Brooklyn, Detroit, Indiana and Toronto. The Heat has three games apiece against those four teams, with the Pacers and Raptors making only one visit to AmericanAirlines Arena.

The Heat — which played home games on consecutive nights six times last season because of the lockout — has such no scenarios this season, though Miami will play 16 sets of back-to-backs overall.

The Heat’s ABC games are home against Oklahoma City on Christmas; Jan. 27 at Boston; home to the Lakers on Feb. 10; at New York on March 3 and home against Chicago on April 14. There are no conflicts between Heat and Dolphins games.
