Firefighters rescue 900-pound pig from South Broward pond

CBS4

Firefighters found themselves in a rather interesting pickle Tuesday when they were called to rescue a 900-pound Yorkshire pig from a Broward pond.

The pond is behind the home of the hogs owner in the 18900 block of Southwest 59th Street in Southwest Ranches.

A 2-year-old old pig named Strawberry was being transported to her new home in Wakulla when she slipped into the water.

Neighbors quickly jumped into the water to help keep Strawberry’s head above water as the pet’s owner called 911.

Firefighters used a ladder and large tarp to remove the swine out of the five-foot-deep water.
